Striker Patrick Kluivert became the Netherlands' all-time leading international marksman when he scored the second goal in their 2-0 victory over Belarus in a Euro 2004 Group Three qualifier. Kluivert, who struck in the 68th minute, took his tally to 38, overtaking Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp.

His Barcelona team mate Marc Overmars broke the deadlock in the 62nd, two minutes after coming on as a substitute for Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The Dutch went top of Group Three with 13 points from five matches. The Czech Republic are second with 10 points but have a match in hand -at home to Moldova on Wednesday.

Overmars sped past three defenders and rifled the ball from 21 metres into the upper left corner of the Belarus goal. Six minutes later, Kluivert doubled the lead when he converted a pass from Clarence Seedorf who had controlled an outstanding long ball from captain Frank de Boer. He could have scored again three minutes before the end but his header hit the crossbar.
